A
dental implant is a surgical process that interfaces with the jaw bone to
support a dental prosthesis. It acts as a replacement for the root of a missing
tooth. Dental implants are used to
replace a single tooth, several teeth, or all types of teeth; thus, implant
surgery is performed under local anesthetic, and therefore, no pain is felt at
all. The tooth may swell afterward, and one is given an ice cube to reduce the
swelling.
On
the other hand, cosmetic dentistry
refers to any dental work that is done to improve the appearance of the teeth,
gums, or bite. This happens to improve the dental aesthetics in color, shape,
size, or the alignment of the teeth. So many people undergo through this
process either because their teeth are discolored, misaligned, or have gaps
between them. Cosmetic dentists always make sure to work with you and develop a
treatment plan. In cosmetic dentistry, different types of products are used to
improve the appearance.one of these products are porcelain veneers, which are thin custom made shells that cover the
front part of the teeth. After the dentist removes half a millimeter of enamel
from the surface of the tooth, the thin shells are cemented on the front of the
teeth to change their color, size, length or the teethes shape.
